Social Service


The Social Work department of San Damiano Province, taking into consideration of the great exhortation of Jesus on charity and love for the poor and marginalized, launched themselves into the sphere of Social and healing activities as we see in the report given below
At present thirty two of our sisters are fully engaged in these fields at 7 different centres. The following are the centers:


1. Lourde Matha Convent, Achalpur
2. Jyoti Bhawan Anupnagar
3. Shanti Convent Nayagave
4. Nirmal Bhawan, Kotkhadar
5. Clare Bhawan, Nadappa
6. Premal Jyoti Convent, Wankaner
7. Sneha Sadan, Talwada


At all these centres, sisters are engaged in Socio-health programmes like health care for mentally, physically sick, family welfare, child health programme, boarding for the Poor children, looking after prisoners'children, Mahila Mandals, non-formal education, adult education, balawadies, free-tuition, small saving schemes, children's clubs, youth clubs, bhajan mandali, cutting and tailoring etc.


Tailoring Class

We conduct six months'Certificate Course at Assisi Convent, Etah, Shanti Convent Nayagave and Clare Bhawan, Nadappa, Nirmal Convent Kotkadar and also we conduct tailoring classes during summer Vacation and many women are benefited by this facility. They do get a Diploma Certificate at the end of the Course. At Wankaner they avail certificate from Navjeevan Trust.


Mahila Mandals are quite active at Kotkadar, Nayagave, Nadapa and Wankaner. They have become capable to raise their voice for their rights. Various trainings are given like dai training, legal awareness training, mushroom cultivation, candle & surf making, vermin compost & driving training etc...


Women Empowerment Programme.


Our sisters in Anupnagar, Nayagave, Kotkadar, Nadapa and Wankaner are successfully implementing it at their own local level. Organizing women in small groups and empowering them to stand with dignity is a way to bring equality in the society. Therefore, sisters are animating to form Self Help Groups.
