Education for the Empowerment of the Underprivileged

We are happy to note that the majority of our schools are in the rural areas and most of our students are marginalized and we take the minimum fees when we compare with other schools of the localities. By marginalized we refer, especially to the economically weaker sections of the society. We render great service to the non Christians and thus to the nation as a whole. We impart quality education to the marginalized through our dedicated services in the boarding for girl children in the rural areas in Nayagave, Bal Bhavan Chamkeri, Etah and in Nirmala Wankaner.

Asha Sadan. Noida, A home for the girl children of prisoners

The prison ministry in Asha Sadan, Noida caters 34 children with free boarding and lodging. They study with all the facilities in the Assisi Convent Senior Secondary School, Noida. It is a matter of pride that four of the students passed out X and four XII examination during these three academic years.

Non- formal schools

Non Formal schools are working at Nayagave, Kotkadar, Wankaner, Anupnagar, and Nadapa where teachers of the locality are appointed. Our sisters visit such centres regularly and motivate them.

National Institute Open Schooling

Assisi Convent School, Sector33, Noida was granted a Centre for NIOS in July 2006, with permission to admit 500 students every year for the classes X and XII. Mainly the drop outs and the working Section avail this opportunity to continue their studies. The school admits the students and conducts classes for them. We conduct the PCP (Personal Contact Programme) for all subjects in the school from 2p.m-5p.m twice a week. We make use of this facility to let the house maids to appear in class X and XII examinations.

Ashadeep- A home for the Deaf and Dumb, Badapur

We under the Diocese of Bijnor provide the hearing impaired children special education in lower classes and later integrate them with their hearing peers in ordinary classes. At present there are thirty seven hearing impaired children with us.  Besides education, we give training for co-curricular activities like sports, dance etc which they are capable of.

Karunalaya, Hajimalang-A mercy home for the girl children of HIV parents

Karunalaya, a home for the unaffected female children of AIDS patients at Hajimalang, Kalyan was blessed on 12 June 2010 by Mar. Thomas Elavanal, the Bishop of Kalyan. These girls are from poor families. Some of them lost their both parents; some of them have only single parent. As a part of our ministry we brought them and accommodated them with us and are giving the education by sending to nearby schools. Our sisters Mother Mary Pius,  Sr. Beatus and Sr. Jeena Rose  were fully involved to take care of their every needs and teach them to help them to help  themselves with much motherly care. Their spirit of sacrifice, patience and hard labour are really commendable. At present there are 24 children under the age of 14.

A Shelter for the mentally disturbed- Ashray, Varanasi

Ashray is one of the special ministries of the San Damiano Province, Noida in collaboration with IMS. It gives shelter to the mentally afflicted. Ashray strives to give a new life to the mentally disturbed brethren who become a burden to the society on account of mental disorder by providing them a healing touch. The district mental Hospital, Varanasi and the doctors and staff render a great service to them. We help them in Counselling, yoga, games and manual work. Making agarbathi, pickles, Moraba has become their part of routine. We desire to empower the above with skills in trade and profession for a better living.  We celebrate all the festivals with prayer services and cultural programme by the inmates themselves.

Alphonsa Special School

In collaboration with the Diocese of Agra, we give education to the Mentally Challenged children of the Agra locality. At present there are 32 children and Sr. Alpho and Sr. Prisca are engaged in it.

Day Care
At F. C. Convent Kalyan, we look after the children of the working parents. Early morning they come to us and we reach them to the school. After the school hours they are brought to us and we help them in their studies and support their spiritual and psychological needs. At present there are 26 children and one sister is in charge of them. It is a consolation for many working mothers.
